A message from President, Glenn Ebersold
For those of you who have been fortunate enough to attend a NCRC conference, you understand what an important piece networking is. While there are a lot of jokes about the time spent outside the classroom setting, the reality is there is a lot of great information being shared and relationships being built. Success is often times the result of a combination of experience, hard work, solid training, and sometimes just dumb luck. It’s also probably safe to say that some of the information exchanged in these small group settings would not be obtained under any other circumstance. As theft deterrent systems on vehicles get better, so does the sophistication of the perpetrators and the manner in which cars are being stolen. As I met folks at our last meeting, it seems everyone had a “war story” to share. They talked about the investigation and what they did which ultimately lead to their success. Following the conference, it struck me that these are similar scenarios we’re all dealing with. However, by not sharing this information on a wider scale, we all end up “reinventing the wheel”. I was also left with the thought, wouldn’t it be great to share this information with all our members. It’s not only a great way to recognize your department or company for a job well done, but everyone else could build upon your success and be more efficient in what they do. The “Recover” magazine is a great venue for sharing success stories. Let’s all learn from one another. If you have a successful investigation to share, please send it to akotsovos@nicb.org. We’d love to hear from you, and I’m sure a lot of other folks would to. Have a great summer. Glenn Ebersold
